General | | Biography: | Iestyn Davies is at the forefront of Britain's new generation of singers. His appearances at the Wigmore Hall, Barbican, Concertgebouw, Snape Maltings and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées have included performances of Britten's 'Canticles', Bach's Mass in B Minor, Handel's 'Messiah' and 'Flavio', to name but a few. He has worked with a large number of international conductors throughout his operatic and concert work, including Gardiner, Harnoncourt, Nagano, Glover, Alessandrini, Spinosi, Koopman and Hogwood, with orchestras including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Academy of Ancient Music, Scottish Chamber, Bournemouth Symphony, Ensemble Matheus and London Philharmonic. His recent recordings include Handel's 'Messiah' for Naxos with the Academy of Ancient Music and New College Oxford and for Naîve Records Vivaldi's 'Griselda' an award winning disc conducted by Jean-Christophe Spinosi.
Future engagements include appearances at both the Cheltenham and Lichfield Festivals, Purcell's 'King Arthur' with New York City Opera, 'A Midsummer Nights Dream' with Houston Grand Opera, Handel's 'Theodora' with the SCO, Handel's 'Flavio' with the Academy of Ancient Music under Hogwood at the Barbican, and tours with Amsterdam Baroque and Concerto Copenhagen. |
