General | | Biography: | Ukrainian bass Andrey Valiguras was studying voice at Odessa State Musical Academy in Ukraine and Freiburg Musical Academy in Germany. From the last institution he graduated with an honor diploma “summa cum laude”.
Andrey Valiguras placed first in the National Voice Competition “New Names” in Kiev, Ukraine in 1997 and in the 33rd International Dvorak Voice Competition in Carlsbad, Czech.
Republic in 1998. In the last competition he also got the Prague Opera exceptional prize for the best performance of an aria by Verdi. Young singer won twice at the Church Musical Festival “Pecherskiy Voice-1999“ and “Pecherskiy Voice-2000“ in Kiev, Ukraine and was honored with the title of the best church soloist of Ukraine.
Mr. Valiguras made his operatic debut at Odessa State Opera, Ukraine as Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti in 2001. At this theater he was also heard as Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini, Prince Gremin in Eugen Onegin by Tchaikovsky and Old Gipsy in Aleko by Rahmaninov.
Andrey Valiguras’ further career as an opera singer proceeded in Germany. He sang the 5th Jew in Salome by Strauss at Stuttgart State Theater, Osmin in Zaide by Mozart at Freiburg City Theater, Commendatore in Don Giovanni by Gazzaniga at Konstanz Festival, Marchese di Calatrava in La forza del destino by Verdi at Mannheim National Theater, Mephisto in Faust by Gounod at Wuerzburg Mainfranken Theater.
For the last four years, since June 2003 Andrey Valiguras has been a permanent member of Hagen City Theater. There he was heard as Commendatore in Don Giovanni by Mozart, Colline in La Boheme by Puccini, Wirt in Koenigskinder by Humperdink, Dikoj in Katja Kabanova by Janacek, Daland in Der fliegende Hollaender by Wagner, Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro by Mozart, Mephisto in Faust by Gounod, Trulove in The Rake’s Progress by Strawinsky, Adam Litumlei in Kleider machen Leute by Zemlinsky, il Marchese di Calatrava and Padre Guardiano in La forza del destino by Verdi, l`Arbre in L´enfant et les Sortileges by Ravel, Bull in Where the Wild Things are by Knussen, Sarastro in Die Zauberfloete by Mozart, Orest and Pfleger in Elektra by Strauss, Le Comte de Grieux in Manon by Massenet, Pistola in Falstaff by Verdi, Crespel in Les contes d´Hoffmann by Offenbach, Joe in Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny by Weill and Landgraf in Tannhaeuser by Wagner.
Mr. Valiguras took part in two world premieres: as Pjornzark and Lirr in Die unendliche Geschichte by S. Matthus in 2004 and as Maler and Soldat in Helle Naechte by M. Eggert in 2006.
He also participated in numerous concerts, musical fests and evenings in Ukraine, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Finland, Czech Republic and Israel.
For the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons Andrey Valiguras has got a two-year contract at Oldenburg State Theater in Germany. |
