General | | Biography: | Tenor BEN DAVIDSON, from Tasmania, Australia, has performed widely in the US. He has been a promotional performer for The Boston Lyric Opera’s production of Hansel and Gretel, Hoffman in The Tales of Hoffmann with Opera New England, Arminio in I Masnadieri with the Connecticut Concert Opera, Rememdado in Carmen with The Connecticut Lyric Opera, Spoletta in Tosca, Remendado in Carmen, and Monsieur Triquet in Eugene Onegin with the Opera Theater of Connecticut, and Camille in The Merry Widow and Richard Dauntless in Ruddigore with the Simsbury Light Opera Company. In addition he has performed Stephen Williams in The Captivation of Eunice Williams with the Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association, and most recently he was seen as Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville with the Commonwealth Opera. Ben has also performed the lead roles of Tamino in The Magic Flute, Nemorino in The Elixir of Love, and Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus.
Ben has also had extensive concert experience as a tenor soloist with Chorus Pro Musica, New York City Choral Society, Opera Providence, Cappella Cantorum, Connecticut Summer Music Festival, Wesleyan Singers, Middletown Chorale, Concert Choir of Northeastern Connecticut, Litchfield Opera Ensemble, Litchfield County Choral Union, The Manchester Symphony Orchestra and Chorale, Concora, The Hartford Chorale and the Hartford Symphony, and The Stonington Chorale.
Ben has placed in many vocal competitions including the MTNA, NATSAA and NATS competitions. He apprenticed with the Des Moines Metro Opera and completed internships with The Opera Company of Boston and Opera Theater of Connecticut. He holds a Master of Music Degree from The University of Connecticut. Vocal mentors include Maria Spacagna, Franco and Loretta Corelli, and Drs. Donald and Virginia Pyle. |
